February, 26 2014 the civil society has fulfilled its task in Crimea, Refat Chubarov, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, said during an international forum "Crimea - it is Ukraine. Annexed peninsula between the past and the future."

- February, 26 has forever busted a myth on voluntary annexation. But for murder of Reshat Ametov it would be difficult to prove that Crimea resisted annexation, Chubarov said.

The Mejlis Head also reminded that although the rally on February, 26 outside the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea was organized by the Mejlis, many people of other nationalities also took part in it.

- All of them were with slogans saying we must maintain the integrity of Ukraine. It will be more important when Crimea’s fate will be determined and the peninsula will be taken back, said Chubarov.

February, 26 has been recognized the Day of Crimean Resistance against Russia’s occupation as this day the city of Simferopol hosted a rally against the separatist sentiments in Crimean Parliament, which led to occupation of the peninsula.

The Russian Federation occupied Crimea in February-March 2014 saying a falsified referendum on March, 16 showed that Crimean residents want to join Russia. The international community has not recognized the annexation. For Ukraine, Crimea remains the temporarily occupied territory.
