KYIV (QHA) -

Ukraine MP Refat Chubarov says that Ukraine has admitted defeat in the investigation of the shooting of EuroMaidan activists having recognized ex-President Yanukovych as a "witness" in the case, but not a suspect. He said this on air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels before the hearing at the Sviatoshynsky District Court.

“We should not expect any positive developments in this case when Yanukovych delivers his explanations at the hearing as a witness. I believe that not engaging Yanukovych in Ukraine as one of the suspects in these cases is already a defeat and a condition that the real role of the Yanukovich is not revealed,” said Chubarov.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people also said that during the interrogation Yanukovych would accuses the current Ukrainian authorities anyway. He noted that "the interrogation of Yanukovych" is a part of the Kremlin’s information campaign against Ukraine.

“I think he will talk about the reasons of taking people to the streets, about the current situation in Ukraine, linking these with his ousting. He would shift the blame to today's power. And the Russian propaganda will support it. It seems to me that this is one of the elements of an integrated media campaign against Ukraine, which is moving upon our country,” he stated.

It was reported earlier that the questioning of Yanukovych in court did not take place due to the fact that the building of the Svyatoshinsky court and Lukyanovka jail were blocked by the activists. Later the fugitive ex-President said that the court session was disrupted by the "Ukrainian authorities in collusion with the radicals."
