The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov told about a need for speedy de-occupation of Crimea during a meeting dedicated to the issues of the Crimean Tatar People in different historical periods.

When one of the attendees assumed that Ukraine can return Crimea, but not now, maybe in 50 years, the Mejlis Head said that Crimean Tatars do not have so much time.

- Of course, Ukraine physically has time – we will return this territory in 50 years, and in the meantime we will be building great mainland Ukraine. As for Crimean Tatars, we have no time! We will be coming back to Crimea. Therefore, if you do not want to do anything, we will force you! said Refat Chubarov.

The Mejlis Head went on saying that increasing the international pressure on Russia is one of the biggest factors for de-occupation of Crimea:

- The Parliament of Ukraine bears most of the responsibility and not because we have a parliamentary-presidential republic, but because we failed to mobilize the political will and spirit. The society takes a lot more steps forward than the people elected by the society. I doubt the new elections will provide this opportunity.

February, 23 Kiev hosted the panel discussion "The Crimean Tatar issue in the Soviet Union and modern Ukraine."
