Crimean government announced it may appoint Mejlis Member, Teyfuk Gafarov vice-mayor of Simferopol. The decision was to be approved at government session August 6.
Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov commented the possible appointment.
In his statement on Facebook, Chubarov said “The Kremlin and its protégés are trying to use Crimean Tatar factor and to create illusion of involvement of Crimean Tatars in realization of Russia’s expansion plans towards Crimea”.
"Hence, there is unprecedented rise in pressure on Mejlis members, finding of those not able to withstand the pressure. Among those unable to withstand such pressure is Teyfuk Gafarov”- he said.
“3 from 33 Mejlis members gave up their principles that were declared a year ago when being appointed Kurultay delegates. - Chubarov said. It is hard for me to accept this being away from Crimea in this difficult time”.
“But who said that the puriionficat would be easy?” – Head of Mejlis summed up.
