If Mejlis is banned in Crimea, close to two thousand Crimean Tatars will be accused of terrorism, said Refat Chubarov, Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, after a meeting of the Coordinating Council on Human Rights and Freedoms in occupied Crimea, as cited by "Ukrinform."

- Current events in temporarily occupied Crimea, including the so-called trials, are illegal. We consider all the actions against the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as criminal and illegal, said Chubarov.

He went on saying that the prohibition of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people will pave the way to the repressions against so many people - the most active members of the Crimean Tatar community since Mejlis is the highest executive body of the Kurultai (National Congress of the Crimean Tatars - Ed.)."

According to Chubarov, Mejlis includes more than 250 local Mejlises.

- And this is more than two thousand people who can be declared extremists, if not terrorists. This is the current situation, said the Mejlis Head.
