The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz delivered a speech at the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which is taking place in Strasbourg (France) today, December 13, according to the message of the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov on Facebook.

During his speech, Akhtem Chiygoz read out the statement of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people of December 8, 2017 "We all need a strong Council of Europe to strengthen a peace based on justice and international cooperation."

“At the conclusion of his speech, condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine and paying special attention to the crimes of Russian invaders against Crimean Tatars, ethnic Ukrainians and citizens of other nationalities living in the Crimea, Akhtem Chiygoz called on the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to resolutely stop any attempts to restore powers of the Russian delegation to PACE before the complete de-occupation of the Crimea and certain regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Chubarov wrote.


A number of meetings with the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in PACE committees are also planned today.
 
Earlier, Akhtem Chiygoz met with the Political Director of the Foreign Ministry of Denmark Jesper Moller Sørensen in Copenhagen and told about the killing of a veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement Vedzhie Kashka due to the actions of the Russian occupiers in Crimea.
