Deputy head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz, arrested Jan 29, is detained in temporary detention facility.

Mejlis member Nariman Dzhelal said to QHA, adding that Chiygoz “bears up against the events, because expected the things would turn out that way.

“He did not create illusions, that political repressions against Crimean Tatar activists and Mejlis members would be stopped. He expected the things will go that way and it helps him to undergo everything that is happening”- Dzhelal said.

Akhtem Chiygoz was detained Jan 29 on suspicion of organising ‘mass disorder' in Simferopol on Feb 26, 2014, when thousands of Crimean Tatars rallied at the building of then Crimean Parliament, showing their support for Ukraine.

Chiygoz now may face 10 years imprisonment.
