OTTAWA (QHA) -

Canada will continue to support Ukraine in countering Russian aggression in the occupied Crimea and the Donbas, the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau stated during his speech in Parliament.

“Canada remains a reliable and unwavering friend of Ukraine, whether it is a question of counteracting the illegal annexation of the Crimea by Russia, or about Russian intervention in the Donbas, or about training Ukrainian forces by our units in Ukraine, or signing a Free Trade Agreement, and we continue to consider the closest trade relations between our countries," he said.

Trudeau stressed that during phone conversations with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko he said that Canada will continue to support Ukraine on its way to greater progress.

Earlier, an MP from the opposition Conservative Party of Canada, James Bezan said that the country should support Ukraine more in its opposition to Russian aggression. He noted that it is only possible to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty through actions and strength.
