Anti-Russian sanctions should be in force until Russia returns annexed Crimea to Ukraine, the US official said.
“Together with our EU and G7 partners, we have made it clear that sanctions to remain in place until Russia fully, emphasize, fully implements its commitments under the Minsk agreements and that the Crimea related sanctions against Russia must remain in place until Russia returns full control to the people of Ukraine,” he said.
Biden said that Ukraine has the right to determine its own path and Russia seems to ignite that choice.
“And the International community must continue to stand as one community has to stand as one against the Russian agression,”he said.
US Vice President Joe Biden hopes that Donald Trump's administration will continue to support Ukraine's politics.
He also noted that only the Ukrainians themselves, enthusiasts and young people can make their country prosperous, and stressed that the government should put the country's interests above their own interests. Otherwise, Ukraine will be in the same situation as Russia, which "uses corruption as a tool of foreign policy."
Petro Poroshenko said that he hoped the new power of the US would inherit the policy towards Ukraine.
