Belarus wants to be transit point between Russia and Ukraine

Air passengers will be able to transit via Belarus after the entry into force the mutual Ukrainian-Russian sanctions against the air carries.

Minsk is ready to accept transit passengers. Minsk National Airport as well as regional airports of Belarus are capable to accept transit passengers starting October 25, when the mutual sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian airlines will come into force, RBC-Ukraine reports Evgeny Rogachev, Deputy Minister of Transport of Belarus, as saying.

“Minsk National Airport, regional airports and Belavia airlines are fully ready to host passengers who will decide to travel to Ukraine via our country,” Evgeny Rogachev said. According to him, Belarus is currently engaged in negotiations with Ukrainian and Russian authorities and airlines.

Just a reminder: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banned the flights of Russian airlines, including Aeroflot and Transaero to Ukraine and transit flights over the Ukrainian starting October 25, 2015. Moscow imposed the reciprocal sanctions on five Ukrainian airlines.
