DAMASK (QHA) -

Cuban Defense Minister has authorized sending Cuban troops to help embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad, the Washington Times reports.

Sending of Cuban military personnel to Syria was made possible due to the backing of Russian President Putin who insisted that their presence there was essential. According to the Washington Times, new Syrian allies will help Syrian military personnel handle modern tanks, which Russia has provided Assad with to fight the moderate opposition forces and ISIS.
