Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann has been at the helm of the Austrian Government since 2008. He had to resign after being subjected to criticism from his own party members. The former Chancellor urged the government to start ‘from scratch’.

Faymann also resigned as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party. At a news conference, Faymann said Austria needs a Chancellor, who will enjoy full support of his party, the BBC reports.
