The attempts to discredit the Mejlis leaders will worsen the situation in Crimea.
Deputy head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz said this to Krym.Realii, commenting the ban for head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov from entering Crimea for 5 years, calling the ban “crying lawlessness”.
“People are indignant. We receive lots of phone calls, people are shocked”- Chiygoz said.
As deputy head of Mejlis noted, Chubarov’s ban will not affect the Mejlis’s work.
“Earlier we delegated 2 representatives [Lenur Islyamov and Zaur Smirnov, -ed.] to create a constructive dialogue with the authorities, unfortunately we failed to create it. It is a problem for Crimean authorities that there is no dialogue with Mejlis”- Chiygoz stressed.
To recall, Mejlis of Crimean Tatar announced on July 5 that it recalls its representatives from the government.
Earlier, in April, Mejlis made a decision to cooperate with Crimean authorities and nominated 2 candidates -- Lenur Islyamov and Zaur Smirniv -- to Crimean Parliament.
Lenur Islyamov was appointed vice-premier of Crimean Parliament on April 2, but was dismissed from the post on May 28.
Zaur Smirnov was appointed head of Republican Committee on Interethnic Relations and Issues of Formerly Deported Citizens.
