Armed men seize military hospital in Simferopol

Pro-Russian radicals have seized the Ukrainian military hospital in Simferopol, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has reported, according to Ukrinform.

According to the press service, doctors cannot provide assistance to seriously ill people.

"On March 10, about 20 violent people from the so-called 'Crimean people's self-defense' broke into the territory of the military hospital in Simferopol. Unknown men brought the head of the Simferopol military hospital out of the medical institution and are not allowing him to his workplace. The command and the entire medical staff have been blocked in the premises of a club," reads the statement.

The Defense Ministry said that over 20 seriously ill patients were currently in the hospital and that one of them was in intensive care.

"Military doctors cannot provide the necessary medical care to the patients," the ministry said
