At a recent press conference, the official representative of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tanju Bilgich commented on the results of the elections to the State Duma in the illegally annexed Crimea.
Turkey continues to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and to condemn the Russian occupation of the peninsula. Therefore, considers the results of elections to the Russian parliament in Crimea invalid.
“It is our position on the elections in Russia held last weekend. In this regard, the results of elections in Crimea, in our opinion, have no legal force,” Bilgich said.
September 18, the Russian Federation held elections to the State Duma.
Earlier, the European Union refused to recognize the election results on the Crimean peninsula, as well as the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation in 2014. A number of countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Sweden, did not recognize their validity on the territory of the annexed Crimea. Polish Foreign Ministry challenged the legitimacy of the Parliamentary elections in the State Duma of Russia as a whole.
September 20, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution on non-recognition of the elections to the RF State Duma of the seventh convocation, their results and the legal consequences and, therefore, the composition, powers, acts and decisions of the State Duma. 264 deputies voted for the corresponding resolution.
