Polish President Andrzej Duda urged to adhere to the Minsk agreements and observe truce in eastern Ukraine. Duda made a statement to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk in Brussels, says a statement posted on the Polish President’s website.

Andrzej Duda also stressed the importance of adhering to international laws because this is an absolute ‘guarantee of peace’.

“If we leave the violation of international law unpunished, we will face a situation where the peace will always be under threat,” Duda said.

According to the Polish President, the current situation in Ukraine is extremely important for his country and he counts on the EU Chairman’s support in this matter at the EU forum.

“The change of borders in Europe by using force in violation of international law is a very dangerous precedent. We have experience of wars which led to the growth of mutual solidarity and cooperation. We cannot let the dramatic events of the past to happen again,” said the Polish President.
