Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people offers amendments to Crimean newly-adopted constitution, vice head of Mejlis Nariman Jelal said.

“Constitution, in the form it was adopted today, is unacceptable. Issues regarding the status of Crimean Tatar people and participation of Crimean Tatars in government bodies are crucial for us”- he noted.

Constitution, approved by Crimean Parliament April 11 says Crimea is an integral part of Russia.

The suggestions, submitted by Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, in particular, recognizing the Mejlis as a higher representative body of Crimean Tatar people, were not included in the constitution.

The document also does not envisage quotas for the participation of Crimean Tatars in government bodies.
