(QHA) -

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said he had fired 585 police officers in Donetsk over breaking the oath they gave to Ukraine and Ukrainian people. Another 242 police officers, who are currently on an extended leave, will be reviewed later.

“It is important, that mass betrayal and dishonorable behavior discredit those worthy policemen who are serving Ukraine!”- Avakov wrote in Facebook.

Avakov added that five special working groups would use lie detectors during the second stage of the review.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk ordered law enforcement agencies and the Interior Ministry to review all MPs, parties and public associations for the alleged support of pro-independence fighters in southeastern Ukraine.

East Ukrainian cities of Donetsk, Luhansk have been a stronghold for pro-Russian separatists. Number of police officers broke the oath they had given to Ukraine and crossed over to the separatists. The fact makes it more difficult to fight the rebels and bring peace in the region.
