LUHANSK (QHA) -

The Luhansk region has processed the results of the May 11 referendum on self-rule. Around 96.2% of people voted in favor of independence, so-called head of the Central Elections Commission of the self-proclaimed "People's republic of Luhansk"  Valery Nikitin told ITAR-TASS on Monday.

The people in the Luhansk region were asked the only question at the referendum: “Do you support the independence of the Luhansk People’s Republic?” Nikitin said that 96.2% of voters answered “yes”, 3.2% said “no”, and 0.74% of ballot papers were found invalid.

Kyiv authorities together with international community said they would not recognize the results of so-called referendum.
