Up to 200 people gathered on Sunday, March 26, near the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine to express their support and solidarity with the Belarusian people.
The rally was attended by representatives of the human rights organization Amnesty International, Crimea SOS, as well as citizens of Belarus, who now live in Kyiv.
No one came to the people and the security of the embassy was strengthened.
People held posters saying "Live Belarus", "For your and our freedom", "Lukashenko is the main sponger".
Participants in the rallies, both in Kyiv and in Minsk, demanded the resignation of President Lukashenko and the entire government of Belarus.
The protesters chanted "Freedom, equality, global solidarity." The organizers said that similar events are taking place in other cities of Ukraine and the world.
The most creative activists expressed their position with the songs of the cult Belarusian group "Lyapis Trubetskoy". The songs were symbols of the Maidan in 2014.
During the Belarusian rally, security forces detained the employees of the Crimea SOS, Evgenia Andreiuk and Maria Kvitsinskaya, who were part of the international monitoring mission of the International Partnership for Human Rights.
March 25, opposition rallies to the Freedom Day were held across Belarus. On this day 99 years ago the Belarusian People's Republic was proclaimed, however this holiday is not celebrated in the country at the official level.
During the protests in Minsk, security forces detained hundreds of people who participated in the rally on the Day of Freedom protesting against the decree of President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
