The coalition under the leadership of the United States of America carried out airstrike on a column of Syrian militants supporting the President of the repressive regime in Syria, Bashar al-Assad, Reuters reported, referring to the statement of US officials.
It is noted that the attacked column was advancing towards the al-Tanf airbase in southern Syria, near the border with Jordan, which posed threat to the US and its allies, according to Pentagon
Coalition forces have been operating and conducting exercises in this area for months.
The statement said that before the airstrike the coalition opened a warning fire, but was ignored. The strike was carried out along the column of Syrian and Iranian militants, who were following to the base. The column was at that time 27 kilometers from the base.
Earlier, in April, the foreign ministers of the G-7 countries (the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan) agreed that while Assad remains the President of Syria, the conflict in the country can not be solved.
