A citizen of Ukraine sentenced to five years imprisonment in Iran, was detained in Crimea, according to the press service of the Crimean Kremlin-controlled Prosecutor's Office.
“The Prosecutor's Office in the town of Armyansk conducted an extradition check against the Ukrainian citizen who was on the International wanted list. The Prosecutor's Office established that the foreign resident was wanted by the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran for committing fraud, for which he was sentenced in absentia to five years' imprisonment,” reads the statement.
The Crimean Court imposed a sentence of detention for 30 days as a preventive measure for the Ukrainian, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
The so-called Crimean Prosecutor's Office plans to extradite the detainee to the competent authorities of Iran.
