On August 27, Istanbul held a meeting of the Coordination Council of the Union of Turkic Media - (Türk Dili Konuşan Ülkeler ve Topluluklar Medya Platformu Koordinasyon Kurulu).
The meeting was organized by the Department of press and information of the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting was attended by representatives of media from Turkey, Azerbaijan , Kyrgyzstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Bulgaria , Greece, Ukraine ( Crimea), Moldova ( Gagauzia ) , Russia (Karachay- Cherkessia, Bashkorkostan ) , Macedonia , Iraq ( Kirkuk ) and Kosovo.
Representatives of the Center for strategic research (SAM) of the Ministry of External Affairs of Turkey and Council of Turkic-speaking countries (TURKKON) also participated in the meeting.
Crimea was represented by general coordinator of the QHA news agency Ismet Yuksel.
The meeting discussed further work of media association. Thus, in November 2013, III Media Forum of Turkic-speaking countries will be held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). Web site of the media association is planned to be finalized and launched. Also, proposals and amendments have been submitted to include in the statute of the media association.
In addition, the meeting in Istanbul discussed further work on creation of professional committees in each of participating countries. According to decision taken at the II Media Forum of Turkic-speaking countries, which was held in October 2011 in Baku (Azerbaijan), such committees are to be created to include media representatives of respective countries. Finalization of creation process of such committees will take place during II Media Forum in Kyrgyzstan in November 2013.
