On July 14 at 23:00, a terrorist attack claimed at least 84 lives in the French city of Nice. A white truck on speed drove into a crowd of people on the Promenade des Anglais, where tourists and residents of the city celebrated a national holiday, Bastille Day. According to eyewitnesses, the terrorist intentionally drove zigzagging, trying to knock down as many people as possible. Before the brake, the car drove about two kilometers.
After hitting terrorists carried out, they got out of the truck and began firing into the crowd. Sound of the shooting was so intense that standing in the distance, people first took it for a continuation of the fireworks. The terrorist was shot almost immediately by the police who came to rescue. The closest to the site of the terrorist attack Negresco hotel immediately turned into a field hospital.
Responsibility for the attack is not taken by any terrorist organization. However, according to experts, the grouping "Islamic state" (IG) may be involved in the tragedy.
The leader of the French nation, Francois Hollande has called the attack a terrorist attack, according to French news agency lefigaro.fr.
