ELBEYLI (QHA) -

As of September 5, the ongoing military operations carried out by Turkish Armed Forces, the Air Forces of the international coalition against the ISIL terrorist organization and Syria Liberation Army called "Shield Euphrates" has resulted in the ISIL having been completely blocked from entering Turkey, reported the AA agency.

The large-scale offensive sped up after the Turkish Armed Forces entered the Syrian territory (from the village of Elbeyli, Kilis Province).

On the 13th day of the operations the Syrian opposition forces have also cleared of terrorists the new settlements in Northern Syria, as well as gained control over the area from Chobanbey to Jarabulus (24 kilometers south of the Turkish-Syrian border).

Last Friday the area cleared of terrorists was 400 km. square, while currently the figure has reached 600 km. square.

The line cleared near the border with Turkey is called Aazez-Jarabulu. The security officers said that despite the achieved results "Shield Euphrates Operation" will continue and the line will be expanded even further.

The "Euphrates Shield" is a joint military operation carried out by the special operation groups with the Turkish Armed Forces and the Air Forces of the international coalition against ISIL terrorist organization in Syria, which started in the early morning of August, 24. The main objectives of the offensive are to clear the frontier regions from IS terrorists, ramp up the border security, provide support for the territorial integrity in Syria, as well as to prevent the creation of so-called "Kurdish corridor” on the southern border.
