SSU found significant cache of mortar shells in Donbas

An ammunition cache was intended for a sabotage group of the so-called ‘DPR’.

The Security Service operatives discovered a cache of more than one hundred mortar shells on the former positions of the ‘DPR’ terrorists illegal armed formations near the village of Pavlopol, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, according to the Security Service of Ukraine press office.

- Law enforcers seized a cache of one hundred and sixteen 120 mm caliber mortar shells of different modifications, packed in army boxes, - the press-service reports.

Reportedly, a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code was initiated. Operational and investigative activities to identify the persons involved in hiding the equipment continues.

Earlier, the SSU officers found a cache of ammunition on the outskirts of the Popasnaya city, Luhansk region. The militants had planned to blow up the ‘Severodonetsk-Popasnaya’ highway.

The operatives seized an anti-tank mine TM-62M with a fuse, a high-explosive fragmentation tank projectile, 200-gram TNT block and almost two hundred Kalashnikov rounds with the Russian markings.
