Snowfall cut power to 117 Ukrainian settlements

Ukraine bore the brunt of poor weather conditions with most of the country left without power.

January 7-8, 117 settlements in five regions of Ukraine have experienced power cuts due to heavy snowfall and response of power-protection system.

According to the Ukraine’s State Service for Emergency Situations, 64 settlements have been left without power in Odessa region, in Donetsk - 22, Dnepropetrovsk - 16, Kirovograd – 10, Cherkasy - 5.

Currently, the power companies are conducting repair works to provide electricity.
