Nadezhda tanker with 8 people on board ran aground due to strong winds in the Tatar Strait near the Sakhalin port city of Nevelsk (the Russian Federation), according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. 

The ship was carrying 786 tons of oil products. 
Rubin rescue ship put to sea with equipment for oil spill response from the nearby port.

For the time being, the state of emergency is declared in Sakhalin region.
