NEW YORK (QHA) -

May 29, Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko was shot dead in Kyiv.

Murder of Arkady Babchenko is strikingly similar to the methods of Russian provocation for political destabilization of the situation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on May 29 at the UN meeting on Ukraine.

The Foreign Minister noted that Arkady Babchenko is a well-known Russian journalist and a critic of the current Russian regime.

At the same time, the diplomat noted that it is too early to make any conclusions about the murder of the journalist.

“We have just received information [the evening of May 29, - Ed], that Arkady Babchenko - a well-known Russian journalist and critic of the current Russian regime - was killed in Kyiv. It is too early to make any conclusions about the murder of the journalist, but it's strikingly similar to the methods that the Russian Federation uses to provoke political instability," Klimkin said.

The minister noted that it is not easy for him to provide detailed lists and reports about Russian aggression against Ukraine, since this issue is a matter of life and death of many Ukrainians.

At the same time, Klimkin noted that Ukraine will spare no effort to ensure justice, and the Russian state will be fully responsible for its aggression.

A picket is held in Kyiv near the Russian Embassy in Ukraine in connection with the murder of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko.

Several dozen people gathered at the square in front of the embassy. Photos of the murdered journalist were pasted on the walls of the building.

The OSCE reacted to the murder of a journalist in Kyiv and urged Ukrainian law enforcers to immediately investigate the incident.

In turn, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal investigation into the murder of Arkady Babchenko. The Russian Federation added that they would not ignore the murders of Russian citizens in Ukraine.
