Russian crane sank in the Kerch Strait

According to preliminary information, two people drowned.

Last night, a floating crane sank in the Kerch Strait during the towing from Kavkaz port in the Krasnodar Territory to Sevastopol, Russia’s Interfax news agency reports referring to the emergency services in the region.

According to preliminary data, among seven people being on board, five were evacuated, but two drowned along with the sunken crane.

The depth of the Strait area where the accident occurred is about 90 meters. Bad weather in the region reportedly caused the accident.  

Now rescuers are trying to organize search and rescue operations, delayed due to the storm.
