A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry plane has evacuated from Syria eight Ukrainian citizens, who were delivered to Moscow on the evening of Tuesday, the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow said, reports Ukrinform.
"An Emergency Situations Ministry plane, which delivered about 20 tons of humanitarian assistance, departed from the Syrian city of Latakia. Eighty-nine people, including eight Ukrainian citizens, were on board the plane. All of them expressed their desire to leave Syria," an embassy employee said.
According to him the plane was to land at about 22.30 Moscow time at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, where they were to be met by representatives of the consular department. The embassy employee also said that Ukrainian citizens were to be placed in the Ukrainian embassy's hotel and sent home by train on Wednesday.
