Rostransnadzor suspends movement of vehicles from Ukraine

Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Transport announces retaliatory measures for suspension of vehicles movement from Ukraine to Russia.

On February 14, Rostransnadzor (Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Transport) suspended the traffic of the freight motor transport registered in Ukraine on the territory of the Russian Federation, press service of Rostransnadzor reports.

“Until further instructions from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the inspectors of Rostransnadzor, in the course of transport control of freight vehicles registered in Ukraine, shall execute withdrawal protocols with record statements and place the vehicles on a dedicated parking. This measure does not apply to the regime of transit from Ukrainian to Kazakhstan, which is carried out in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 1 of 01.01.2016,” reads the statement.

The press service also reports that a total of 152 Ukrainian vehicles have been already detained in Russia.

As of February 15, 2016 (9:00 a.m.) a total of 152 vehicles belonging to Ukrainian carriers have been detained on the territory of the Russian Federation. There have not been any registered cases of unlawful acts by drivers,” reads the statement.
