Seif Eldin Mustafa, who hijacked an EgyptAir plane, released all the hostages before surrendering to the police.

“It’s all over. Hijacker arrested,” reads a message on the Cyprus Foreign Ministry’s Twitter page.

Passengers and crew members, who were on board of the hijacked Airbus A320, left the aircraft. One of the hostages escaped through the cockpit, reports Slon.

It was reported earlier that an unidentified man hijacked an EgyptAir plane heading from Alexandria to Cairo with 81 passengers on board on March 29. The city authorities initially identified the hijacker as Ibrahim Samaha, a professor from Atlanta. However, reports emerged later that it was not Samaha Ibrahim, but Seif Eldin Mustafa, a former officer with the Egyptian Armed Forces or Egyptian security services, who hijacked the plane.
