Odessa: Police search for explosives on Kulikovo Field

Residents of the city are going to honor the memory of those killed in the tragedy two years ago, but law enforcement officers still do not let them go to the Kulikovo Field.

Around a hundred people gathered at the barrage tape that surrounds the Kulikovo Field. People are waiting for entrance to the field to be opened after "demining," UNN reports.

The Odessa residents wishing to lay flowers outside the House of Trade Unions are confident the mining was reported deliberately to prevent them from holding a mournful event scheduled for 14:00.

Kulikovo Field is guarded by police and soldiers of the National Guard.

Just a reminder: May 2, 2014, a total of 48 people were killed and over 200 injured during the civil confrontation between pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian activists. Most people died as a result of a fire in the House of Trade Unions on the Kulikovo Field, where the pro-Russian activists’ camp was located. However, on that day, the first victims of the clashes were pro-Ukrainian activists who came under fire and died near the Greek square.
