Number of accidents on Crimean roads increased by 45%

Mortality rates and the number of victims of traffic accidents increased accordingly.

For the first six months of this year, the number of traffic accidents in Crimea has increased by 44.6%, compared to the same period last year, according to the information-analytical review "Road traffic accidents in Russia in the 1st half of 2016" published by the Traffic Safety Problems Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The number of people injured in road accidents increased by 40.3%, and the death rate on the Crimean roads increased to a lesser extent, but still by 15%.

- The three main indicators of accident rates in the Crimea Republic has increased: the number of traffic accidents - by 44.6%; mortality rate in road accidents – by 15% and the number of victims - by 40.3%, in the city of Sevastopol – by 14%, 19% and 6.3% respectively, - the document says.

According to traffic police statistics, there had been 940 road accidents in the Crimea since the beginning of the year. As a result,164 people died and 1188 were injured. In Sevastopol there were 302 road accidents, 25 dead and 371 injured.
