An island has emerged from the Arabian Sea off the coast of southwestern Pakistan, following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday, reports Euronews.

Residents of Gwadar gathered on the beach to look at the new land mass, which is around 200 metres long. Scientists have been sent to inspect it, amid reports that it is emitting flammable gas.

The death toll from the quake stands at 327 and authorities say it is expected to rise. The district of Arawan was hardest hit.
