SIMFEROPOL (QHA) -

Member of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Abduraman Egiz was beaten by ‘Crimean self-defense forces’ in Simferopol May 6.

When Egiz parked his car in the center of Simferopol and went out of it, some of 5 unidentified individuals, who claimed themselves ‘self-defense forces’ came to him demanding to show the documents and said they want to inspect his car.

“I said I will show my document and my car to police officers only. Their leader showed me some documents proving his is a member of ‘self-defense forces’, saying he has the right to demand my documents”- Egiz said.

“They agreed to call the police, but instead of police some of 20 members of ‘self-defense forces’ arrived there. I said that they do not look like police officers, but they put handcuffs on me and tried to detain me. After I resisted they started beating me. I had to show my passport. After their ‘leader’ looked at it they set me free”- Egiz said.

According to Egiz, he will consulate on further actions with the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.
