MOSUL (QHA) -

During the liberation of the city of Mosul captured by militants, one of the leaders of the Islamic State was killed. Mahmoud Chukri al-Nuaimi, also known as Sheikh Faris, was killed as a result of an air strike on the territory of Iraq, according to CNN.

It is known that earlier Mahmoud Chukri al-Nuaimi held a high position in the government of Saddam Hussein's intelligence.

Previously QHA reported, that the operation to liberate Mosul continues. It began on October 17, when Iraqi government forces entered the city with the support of the international coalition.
