Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a prominent ISIS leader, has been gravely wounded and three of his deputies killed in an airstrike launched by the Iraqi Air Force, reports IRNA news agency of Iran.

Among those killed in the airstrike was Ash-Shishani, ISIS’s propagandist and one of its best field commanders.

The airstrike is reported to have been launched against a convoy of vehicles in the province of Anbar. As intelligence reports suggest, al-Baghdadi was headed to the town of Karabla, an ISIS stronghold located near the Syrian border, where a meeting of senior ISIS leaders was due to take place.

“Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was wounded after a convoy of vehicles he was on came under fire. Omar al Kubeisi, ISIS’s financier in the town of Abu Kamal, and Abu Saad al Karbuli, a man responsible for ISIS leaders’ security, were also killed in the airstrike,” reads a statement issued by the Iraqi military.
