US General Gary Voleski during a video conference in Bagdad commented on the course of military operations in the Iraq city of Mosul, according to the AA agency.
According to the US military authorities, the leaders of the terrorist organization ISIL began to leave Mosul under the pressure of the military operation launched four days ago.
“Compared to the first days of operation, the number of ISIL militants significantly decreased in Mosul,” stated Voleski, adding that the international coalition in the framework of a military operation collaborates only with the forces of the Iraqi government allies.
The American general refused to comment on the duration of the military operation to clean up Mosul.
The first stage of operation against the ISIL terrorist elements on the Iraqi city of Mosul involves Peshmerge armed forces of regional Kurdish administration in Iraq, the city militia, trained by Turkish military instructors at the military base "Ba`shiqah" and the forces of international coalition against ISIL.
Mosul is the second most important city for the terrorist organization ISIL, which they captured in 2014. In January 2015, the US carried out air strikes on the city, helping Peshmerge to launch a military operation to liberate Mosul. And in March 2016 the Iraqi army launched an operation to clean up the city from the ISIL terrorists.
