The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov received a police summon from the "police" Major.
“Five minutes ago I received a police summon, according to which I have to appear at office of the police Major G.V.Levyh, Room 403 in 15 minutes. The reason is not indicated. I think the MEJLIS... I'll write when come back ...” Umerov wrote on Facebook.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Jalal, Ilmi Umerov is awaiting the court hearing on a similar Article as Ali Khamzin.
Member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ali Khamzin is judged by Part 1 of Article. 20.28 of the RF Administrative Code "Organization of a public or religious association, the activity of which was suspended under the law." The Kremlin-controlled Crimean Themis fined Khamzin for 1 thousand RUB.
Ilmi Umerov has been involuntary confined in a psychiatric hospital in Simferopol for three weeks for compulsory inspection. He was released on September 7. However, Umerov announced his intention to continue to defend his rights.
The criminal case against the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov was launched at the request of the so-called Public Prosecutor’s Office of Crimea. The prosecution alleges that in March 2016, Umerov being in the territory of Ukraine, publicly called to "violate the territorial integrity of Russia" during his live interview with ATR TV Channel.
