Acting on a tip-off from locals civil activists, Ukrainian border guards with the  Stuzhitsa checkpoint (Chop border guard detachment) held up four unidentified individuals headed for the Ukrainian-Slovak border. As is often the case in such situations, the men, who said they were from Sri-Lanka, had no IDs on them.

The four were suffering from exposure to the cold, which is unsurprising, given the subzero temperatures and snow cover. After being taken to the border guard headquarters, one of the men received treatment for frostbite.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing. The detained will be held in custody pending trial.
