According to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov, the reported number of losses is the highest for the year 2016.
“Only in the last day, seven Ukrainian soldiers were killed and nine were wounded as a result of shelling. The military and political leadership of the Russian Federation, which systematically and consistently torpedoes the peaceful solution of the conflict and the liberation of the occupied territories, bears responsibility for these bloody provocations,” Turchinov posted on his official website.
According to him, the concentration of heavy weaponry banned by Minsk Agreements along the boundary line shows the Russia’s system preparation for activation of military confrontation.
“The appeasement of the aggressor instead of increasing sanctions and other real actions only leads to an increase in the number of victims among Ukrainian military and civilians, as well as the risk of Kremlin’s decision to begin full-scale hostilities in Europe,” Turchinov emphasized.
