Gas leak blast occurs in Kharkov region

An owner of a house in the Dvurechancky district sustained injuries in a gas leak blast.

A gas leak blast that occurred in the village of Topoly was reported to the 101 emergency service at 10.20 p.m., reports the press service of the Emergency Service Department in the Kharkov region.

Rescue workers who arrived at the site of the accident evacuated a 31-year old owner of the house and called an ambulance. The man, who was initially diagnosed with a fractured knee and multiple burns, was taken to a hospital in the town of Kupyansk.

The blast also damaged the walls and roof of a nearby one-storey building. Personnel of Kharkovgas, a local gas provider, are currently investigating the site trying to establish the cause of the blast.
