An air strike by the US-led coalition in the eastern Syrian province of Deir ez Zor killed the founder of Amaq, the propaganda media of the Islamic state militants, Reuters reports, referring to the message of the terrorist's brother on Facebook.
Reuters’ correspondents could not confirm the fact of the terrorist's death. The US-led coalition against the Islamic state has not provided any comments yet.
Reportedly, the air strike killed Ryan Meshal and his daughter in the militant’s house in the Syrian city of Al Mayadin.
"I am happy to report the martyrdom of my elder brother due to the air strike by the coalition forces. His name is Baraa Kadek. In the world was known under the pseudonym Ryan Meshal,” Reuters quotes the brother of the deceased.
The director of Internet monitoring service in the US Rita Katz confirmed on Twitter that the air strike of the coalition killed Meshal in Deir ez Zor.
The "Islamic state" controls the desert territories in the east of Syria and most of the province of Deir ez Zor, bordering Iraq. However, during the last year, the terrorists began to drastically lose influence in the occupied territories.
The US-led western coalition supports an alliance of Kurdish and Arab militants in the struggle for the city of Rakka, the unofficial capital of the IS in Syria. Syrian democratic forces are moving steadily towards Rakka, clearing the north of the country from jihadists.
