On the night of June 8, an explosion occurred on the territory of the United States Embassy in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.

According to the National Police, someone threw an explosive device at the embassy.

“On June 8, at 00:05, a report on the explosion in the territory of the US Embassy in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv was received by the police on duty. Investigation teams of the district and central police departments immediately arrived at the scene of the incident.”


Upon examination, it turned out that an unknown person threw an unidentified explosive device on the territory of the diplomatic mission.

It is known that no one was injured as a result of the explosion. Criminal proceedings under art. 258 (terrorist act) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way. Law enforcers search for persons involved in the crime.

Later the embassy commented on the incident:

“We can confirm that the incident occurred with the use of a small explosive device shortly after 12:00 June 8 on the embassy territory. It did not result in any damage to the property of the embassy. None of the staff was hurt. The Embassy is working as usual. At present, we do not consider this incident a terrorist act. The Embassy closely cooperates with our partners from local law enforcement agencies in the investigation of this incident.”

Earlier, on the night of June 4, a double terrorist attack was committed in London.
