The media reported that at least 10 people died in the subway explosion, and about 30 were injured.

Reportedly, the explosive device was left in the subway car, thus, the explosion was carried out not by a suicide bomber. According to unofficial data, it was stuffed with striking elements.
At the station "Ploshchad Vosstaniya", another explosive device was found and neutralized.
The metro stations Park Pobedy, Electrosila, Moscow Gates, Frunzenskaya, Technological Institute, Sennaya Ploshchad, Gostiny Dvor were immediately closed.
The residents inform that now the metro in the city is completely closed.

Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case in connection with the incident.
The Head of the Office of the Prosecutor General's Office for Interaction with the Media, Aleksandr Kurennoy, characterized the explosion in the St. Petersburg metro as a terrorist act.
