Ex-Deputy Head of Security Service perished in Kyiv

Andrei Taranov who occupied the post of a Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine in December 2014, died on the Dnieper River near the Gavansky Bridge.

People's deputy, a member of the MIA board Anton Gerashchenko reported on the incident to the edition.

“Yes, it's true, Taranov lost control of a water motorcycle and crashed into a barge. It happened a few hours ago in Kiev on the water near the Gavansky Bridge,” he said.

The Head of the National Police Communications Department Yaroslav Trakai confirmed this information.

“We recorded a fatal case on the water, resulting in the death of the ex-Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Andrei Taranov,” he informed.

 According to preliminary information a scooter driven by Taranov crashed into other vessel, the representative of the Ukrainian National Police reported.

“Some details can be reported later, following all the examinations, including a technical inspection of the vehicle,” said Trakai.

Reportedly, the death of the official is included in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations under article 291 of the Criminal Code (violation of the existing rules on transport).

Prior to the position at the Administration of President of Ukraine, Andrey Taranov served as a Deputy Chief of Security Service of Ukraine. In May 2012, Andrei Taranov was awarded the "Order For Courage".
