Donetsk region: SSU detained trucks carrying contraband goods

The SSU officers have intercepted contraband goods bound for militants in the temporarily occupied territory.

The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine have detained two large consignments of cigarettes and cheese which smugglers tried to bring in to the temporarily occupied territory of 'DPR’ (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Law enforcers stopped a truck moving in direction of the contact line beyond the checkpoint near the village of Semigorye. The truck was carrying 5 tons of cigarettes of popular brands for a total amount of UAH 1, 25 million, according to the SSU press service.  

The operational and investigative actions are currently underway to identify the initiators of the cargo dispatch. The criminal proceedings are to be opened in the nearest future. 

The SSU officers have also detected two vans moving to the temporarily occupied territory near the village Kleschivka. The drivers were trying to smuggle 3 tons of curd products for a total amount of more than UAH 550 000.
