Deputy Head of Kharkov district administration caught accepting bribe

A joint operation between the National police and Security Service of Ukraine (the SSU) resulted in a Kharkov district administration employee being caught accepting a bribe.

Deputy Head of Kharkov district administration was caught accepting a bribe of UAH 5,000, which she demanded for issuing a written authorization to turn off central heating in a room. The woman was reputed to demand bribes for rendering services, reports the press service of the SSU in the Kharkov region.

Placed under arrest while accepting marked bills, the Deputy Head is charged with bribery, a crime public officials face criminal responsibility under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Immediately after the arrest, some local media outlets reported pressure being applied on SSU officers by the employees of the city administration.
